- When Kirby Walls and Martin Weinkove needed more storage while building a condo, they came up with the idea for USU. Born from the need to have a place to store all the stuff that comes with life - skis, bikes, seasonal clothes, decorations and more - the USU solved the problem commonly experienced with limited storage space.
- Designing the USU had it's challenges. The USU had to be extremely durable, keep dust, bugs and moisture out, be secure, easy to assemble and able to hold lots of stuff. Plus it had to be easy to access and even easier to park a car or truck under. And lastly it had to be made right here in the USA.

The USU was born after many years of listening to a lot of condo residents complain about having too little or no storage.
So we went to work to fill the urban storage gap, keeping in mind not just the needs of residents, but also the priorities and burdens of HOA boards and property managers.
The result is a product that delivers practical, convenient and secure storage for every USU owner, built with a quality, durability and style that will enhance the aesthetic value of any building garage, and the value of every condo owner’s asset.

Is the USU allowed in my building?
The USU is approved for use by residents in several local communities. To find out if the USU is approved for use in your building, please check with your property management company, or simply drop us a line and we will be able to assist you with obtaining any approval information.
How do I know if it will fit in my space?
The USU is designed and manufactured specifically for in-parking-space locations and should fit in most any regular sized parking space. However, please note that in some rare instances there may be contributing factors such as sprinkler head locations and or plumbing or electrical piping that could prohibit the USU from fitting in your space.
Will it fit over the hood of my SUV?
The USU is designed to fit over most any regular car, truck or SUV. The base stand is height adjustable and can be set as low as 44″ off the ground to a maximum height of just over 55″ off the ground.
What is it made out of?
The USU is made with pride and care in the USA. The top box is made from brushed aluminum with fully welded seams and mounts to our steel powder-coated adjustable base unit to ensure a maintenance free and aesthetically attractive appearance.
What sizes does it come in?
The USU is currently available in our standard box size measuring 98″ wide by 36″ deep by 30″ high).
How much stuff can it hold?
The USU can hold up to 1,000 pounds of your precious stuff. It provides about 61.25 cubic feet of storage space (equal to about 3 refrigerators w/ freezers).
How is it installed?
Your USU arrives in 3 boxes and is packed flat. Assembly should take 2 people with limited assembly experience about an hour from start to finish, when referencing the assembly guide. Please go to SPECS to watch our assembly video. If you live in the Austin, Texas area, you can arrange for delivery and assembly by our team.
Will it work on a sloped floor?
Yes, the USU’s modular base stand has 12″ leg inserts in each leg that allow for installation on sloped or uneven floors as well as on parking spaces located on ramps. All USUs also feature 3″ multi-directional, self-leveling foot pads that offer instant adjustment for flooring that is not perfectly level.
Does the USU need to be anchored to a wall or floor?
Not a problem, the USU is completely freestanding. It does not require any anchoring or drilling.
Can my unit be moved?
Yes, although the USU is a pre-assembled and fully welded structure, its base stand is modular in design and can be easily broken down to facilitate moving, relocation or storage. In fact, the base stand once dismantled can be stored inside the USU itself. If you have purchased an USU from us previously and are moving to a new property but need help or guidance relocating your USU – please contact us for assistance.
What’s the warranty?
The USU features a limited 1 year parts and labor warranty.

If I rent an apartment, can I still buy one?
Absolutely! Although you’ll probably need to obtain your landlord’s consent first.
